Snapchat clip ‘of three boys attacking girl, 13’ shown in rape trial as mum describes horror

A 13-year-old girl’s mother told Minshull Street Crown Court how her daughter was left frightened and in pain after three boys allegedly attacked her. A Snapchat video showing part of an alleged attack on a 13-year-old girl by three boys has been played to a rape trial. The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was reportedly attacked in bushes near the Newbold tram stop in Rochdale in February 2024. Prosecutors claim the boys, then aged 12, 13, and 14, took it in turns to rape her. Part of the alleged assault was filmed on a mobile phone and later circulated among themselves and others, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. Two of the boys, now aged 15 and 16, are standing trial, while the youngest, now 14, has been deemed unfit to plead. All deny the charges. Manchester Evening News reports that prosecutor Kim Whittlestone told the jury the older boys “knew what consent meant” and that their defence may claim some sexual activity was consensual, which she said cannot be accepted.
