The chatbot is billed as ‘an experimental, friendly, chatbot’ designed to be a ‘personal sidekick’ to Snapchat users, answering factual questions, giving advice and helping to plan trips. But Snapchat did concede that the tool may not always be accurate, and its responses ‘may include biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading content’. It’s being rolled out to all of the app’s 750 million monthly users for free, after initially being given to Snapchat’s three million paid subscribers.
