Picture: Billy Husband President Julie Knapp welcomed members, friends and prospective players to the 2026 season at Thurso Bowling Club on Saturday. Long-serving member Jackie Swanson delivered the first jack, marking the official opening of the green. Play has had to be delayed for a week due to the prolonged cold, wet weather of the past few months – so, instead of heading out for the traditional few ends of bowls, members enjoyed a social afternoon in the clubhouse having a catch-up with fellow members and representatives from the St Fergus and Rosebank clubs. This Saturday the first helter-skelter will take place in the form of a Scroungers game. The starting time is 2pm so all members should be at the club for 1.45pm to ensure they are in the draw. Entry sheets for the club competitions are up in the locker room and the 2026 diary is available in the clubroom. Thurso Bowling Club will be running a “come and try” day in May.
