Steven “Steve” R. Brown, 66, of Ida Grove – Storm Lake Radio

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 6th at 10:30am at the OA-BCIG High School Gymnasium in Ida Grove.  Rev. Neil Wehmas will officiate.  Burial in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove.  Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5th from 4 to 8pm at the gymnasium.  The funeral service can be viewed on the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home Facebook Page.   The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove is in charge of arrangements. Steven Ray Brown, the son of Wayne and Phyllis (Jacobson) Brown, was born on July 29, 1955, in Jefferson, Iowa. He grew up in the rural Bayard, Iowa, area and received his education at Bayard High School graduating with the class of 1973. While in high school Steve was a four-sport athlete and involved in various music ensembles. He went on to attended Morningside College and received his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and his coaching certification. In 1977 Steve began his teaching and coaching career in the Battle Creek CSD which through the course of his employment eventually became the Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove CSD.
