On July 27, the streaming industry leaders released their report for Q2 2021, examining industry data and trends from the largest streaming platforms. The trend generally continues its rapid growth, sent skyrocketing by the need for people to stay connected and find something to do during the global coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. Streaming platforms have allowed ordinary people, as well as celebrities, athletes, and artists, to connect with their respective communities at a time when in-person events were largely restricted.
