The New England Patriots defeated the Minnesota Vikings by a 20-12 score in a mostly defensive game. Drake Maye played for a couple of drives and even led the team on a touchdown drive early in the game. He left the game after throwing 4-of-7 for 46 yards. Saturday’s game was once again all about the backup quarterbacks, Joshua Dobbs and Ben Wooldridge. Dobbs went 11-of-16 passing for 106 yards and one touchdown, while Wooldridge was 7-of-13 passing for 55 yards. The biggest stories of the game were the defense holding the Vikings to only field goals and another lights-out performance from undrafted rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III. For a second straight week, Chism led the Patriots in receiving with six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown. Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson was responsible for the other touchdown with an eight-yard rush in the first quarter. With the victory, the Patriots extended their preseason record to 2-0.
