Today (August 8th) is the anniversary of the hard-fought Voting Rights Act.  The League of Women’s Voters honors those who have worked hard to ensure the right to vote in the United States.  Please take a moment today to remember John Lewis and all of those throughout America’s history who have worked tirelessly to shape the democracy.  League Members and anyone interested can also Oppose the Voter ID Act. Congress continues to introduce bills that would create unnecessary barriers to voting by requiring voters to present documents like government-issued photo IDs to vote.  Americans do not need MORE obstacles to vote.
