This story has been edited to add new details – In a case his attorney called “extremely weak,” a Warren firefighter and former school board member has been criminally charged with sending unsolicited messages electronically through the Snapchat app to an 18-year-old female. He also has been suspended from his employment. Adam Joseph Mazur-Baker, 37, was arraigned Tuesday, June 30 in 37th District Court on two misdemeanors charges: using a computer to commit a crime and malicious use of a telecommunications device, according to court records. Judge John Chmura released Baker on a $5,000 personal bond. If convicted on the most serious of the two charges, Mazur-Baker faces up to one year in jail. A statement from the City of Warren says the Warren Fire Department recently learned of Baker allegedly having inappropriate electronic communications with the woman, who was 18 at the time. Clarissa Cayton, communications director for the city, said after learning about the alleged communication, Baker was removed from operational duties and placed on administrative leave while the Warren Police Department conducted its criminal investigation.
