The app uses data to give users personalized, curated itineraries, making tourism feel more spontaneous. Welcome, a travel app that aims to take the admin hassle out of finding things to do while travelling, has raised $3.5 million in seed funding.The app draws on real-time data such as location, weather, time of day, and local holidays to suggest the best things to see, do and eat in an area. Welcome crawls the internet for relevant information on different locations, pulls it together, and presents it to users based on their interests. The travel app is the latest venture from Matthew Rosenberg, Mark Armendariz, and Mark Essel. Rosenberg previously cofounded Cameo, a video-creation app (not the celebrity video app) bought by Vimeo in 2014.
