A lot of blogs dedicated to these communities are basically just image and mood boards, but some people take them more seriously and participate in “rituals”, some of which claim to need the use of human bones. To make a long story short, there was a famous case where someone on Tumblr was stealing bones from their local cemetery for use in said rituals. This would be… contentious in basically any case, but the person was taking bones from a New Orleans cemetery that specifically housed the bodies of poor and otherwise societally disadvantaged people.
