The Facebook-owned instant messaging app could, in fact, be working on a status reply indicator, as per a report by WABetaInfo. With the new update, a new, different icon will be displayed next to the chat when the latest message to arrive is a reply to a status update, says the report, basing its claims on a screenshot captured from WhatsApp Desktop beta. If the feature is currently being tested for desktop, we can expect it to arrive on Android and iOS too. The feature is expected to make it easier for users to know who in their contacts list actually responded to their status updates. It would help distinguish a status reply from a general message on the chat screen.
