WhatsApp developers are making progress towards implementing the transfer of chat history between iOS and Android devices. The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, 22.2.74, contains evidence of this upcoming feature. Transferring chat history between different operating systems is not a simple task, as indicatedthe messenger’s source code. To initiate the transfer, users will need to have WhatsApp installed on both devices and can choose to transfer their chats using a cable or a private Wi-Fi network. Compared to other messaging apps, WhatsApp currently offers limited options for transferring data between iOS and Android devices. The only available method involves migrating data from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy smartphone using a USB cable and the Samsung SmartSwitch app. In other news, WhatsApp is set to introduce new photo editing tools for its Android version. Similar to Facebook and Instagram, Meta (formerly known as Facebook) regularly updates WhatsApp with new features. The upcoming update includes the ability to listen to voice messages before sending them or even when the app is running in the background.
