Williamson County couple launches Facebook group to connect same-sex families in Middle …

WILLIAMSON CO. , Tenn. (WSMV) – A Williamson County same-sex couple said a Facebook post helped them find the kind of community they had been searching for in Middle Tennessee. Jason and Greg Warren, educators who run the online teaching platform “The Kindergarten Smorgasbord,” are raising two daughters, 7-year-old Adelynn and 6-month-old Violet. They said they feel welcomed where they live but do not often see other families like theirs nearby. “None of our friends have families like ours. They’re couples, but they don’t have any kids,” Jason Warren said. He said most families in their neighborhood are heterosexual, though the couple said neighbors have been supportive. “There’s not other same-sex families that live near us,” he said. “Our community is 100% all straight families, but they all welcome us here.” Wanting their children to see other families like theirs, Jason Warren posted in a local Facebook group asking people to reach out if they knew of other same-sex families.
