Having crossed the 200 million monthly active user mark in India, parent of messaging app Snapchat now looks to monetise its offerings even as it hires a managing director for India, Snap Inc Asia Pacific president Ajit Mohan has said.“We are going to invest in building a sales team in addition to pushing growth, content and partnerships,” Mohan told ET in an interview. “The scale of the community here allows us to have this focus on creating a wider business.”Mohan, who was previously Meta India’s managing director, took over his new role at Snap in January this year.“It’s the first time we have looked at hiring a senior leader in India and expanding the sales and growth teams,” he said.In the Asia Pacific region, Japan, China, Australia and Snap’s regional hub in Singapore, boast of senior leaders across functions, including in sales and product growth.In April, Snap’s cofounder and CEO Evan Spiegel told ET that Snapchat had doubled its user base from 100 million and grew its engagement similarly in India. “Our community in India, both in terms of daily and monthly active users, has more than doubled,” he had said, pointing also to greater engagement by Indian users with
