Women’s Tennis is Set to Begin Fall Season Play – UK Athletics

LEXINGTON, Ky.  — The women’s tennis Wildcats are set to hit the courts again this weekend, with the ITA All-American Championships happening in Cary N.C. and the Big Blue Invite being hosted at home in Lexington. As a refresher, the collegiate tennis fall season features the ITA singles and doubles championships with team competition coming in the spring. ITA All-Americans is the first chance to qualify for the ITA Singles Championship and it will begin Saturday, Sep. 19 and run through Sep. 27. Kentucky will have two Cats representing the Blue and White in preseason No. 56 Julia Zhu and freshman Georgia Kulevich making her collegiate debut. Kulevich will play in the singles pre-qualifying draw starting Saturday and Zhu will look to begin later in the week in the main draw. Six other Wildcats will compete in the Big Blue Invite as the home team in Lexington, beginning on Friday, Sep. 18. Play from Ellie Myers, Avery Pope, Donna Le Roux, Norina Bak-Szabo, Elena Molla, and Asuncion Jadue will begin at 9 a.m. with two rounds of doubles matches and then head into singles play with pods of four to avoid teammate matchups.
