Worcester approves extending last call through July – Spectrum News

WORCESTER, Mass. – Cities and towns are considering a temporary extension to last call following approval from the governor this week. The move allows bars to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. and allows for public consumption in designated areas through July to accommodate major summer events like the World Cup. Worcester is hosting several public watch parties, and on Thursday, the city’s License Commission voted in favor of allowing the extension. Prior to the vote, Mayor Joe Petty offered his full support. “I think it’s a good idea, it’s one extra hour. We’ll be ready for it,” Petty said. “This will be over before you know it, so I think Maura Healey made the right call here. It’s for the experience, I hope it goes well.” City restaurants and bars that wish to extend hours must first request approval from the commission.
