Your capability wasn’t Fast Company on LinkedIn This resonates strongly, especially in Nigeria. Many professionals have experienced this quietly. A bank restructures, and the marketers who once drove physical account openings are now less central because everything is done through mobile apps. Newspapers that once had large print teams now prioritise digital content. Even administrative roles are shrinking as HR systems and automation take over routine work. It doesn’t mean the people in those roles lacked competence. The business moved. The real lesson is this: roles can disappear, but capability must continue to evolve. In today’s economy, our greatest job security is our ability to learn, adapt, and stay relevant. This is spot on.
