Youth in custody after Snapchat threats toward Stettler school – Ponoka News

Published 11:06 am Thursday, April 16, 2026 A youth is in custody following threats made toward Stettler’s Wm. E. Hay Secondary Campus. At about 10:15 p.m. on April 15, RCMP officers received reports that a youth was sending threats to other students via Snapchat that they would shoot other students. An investigation was quickly begun, and officers obtained sufficient evidence to arrest a suspect. The youth has charges pending for uttering threats and will be taken before a justice of the peace to determine future court dates and release conditions. As the suspect is a youth, they can not be identified. The Stettler detachment does not believe there is an ongoing threat to students or staff, however out of an abundance of caution, the school resource officer and detachment officers are working with the school to ensure an ongoing police presence in the short term. “Clearview Public Schools was made aware of a potential threat involving Wm.
