YSU Foundry Society Team to be Featured on YouTube Show

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s award-winning American Foundry Society student team will be featured in Episode 5 of Season 1 of “Cast in Steel,” scheduled to premiere on YouTube on Thursday.  The episode highlights YSU’s George Washinguin design from the 2025 Steel Founders’ Society of America Cast in Steel Competition. The team earned Best in Show and placed first overall among 36 collegiate teams nationwide.  It also received first place for Best Performance and second-place honors for Best Casting and Best Design and Process.  Students designed, cast and tested a George Washington-inspired sword using modern metalcasting methods. Judges recognized the YSU design for its balance, usability and structural integrity. “Cast in Steel” premiered July 9 and will release new episodes weekly. Viewers can watch the episode that features YSU and all the other episodes on the Cast in Steel YouTube channel.
