CT Senate candidate derides car tax — but didn’t pay hers, town records show: Dan Haar

This screenshot from a video on Amybeth Laroche’s Instagram page of August 2026 shows her in front of her 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.  Instagram In March of 2025, Amybeth Laroche talked about “Giuliana’s Big Move,” her then-new book about a family’s transition from one town to another, in a story in the Newtown Bee newspaper.  She had lived in Shelton, that Bee story and other accounts suggested. Laroche bought a house in Newtown in May 2024, public records show.  Article continues below this ad Also in March 2025, Laroche registered her 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee at her Newtown address, two months after registering to vote in Newtown.  Soon after, Laroche ran for the Newtown Board of Finance, winning last November as one of two Republicans on the six-member body. She’s serving a two-year term until 2027. Now Laroche, who said she manages large defense contracts, is the GOP candidate for state Senate in the 28th district, covering Newtown, Bethel, Easton and Fairfield. She’s running a spirited campaign against Democrat Rob Blanchard of Fairfield, a top aide to Gov. Ned Lamont.
