Dr Tijion Esho’s relationship with social media is a double-edged sword. Having started his first aesthetic clinic above a hair salon in Newcastle, UK, he used Instagram to attract a client base that now includes celebrities and models, and spans both the UK and Dubai. Yet his technique – what he calls “invisible aesthetics” – is the polar opposite of “Instagram face” with its cookie-cutter tumescent lips and overworked cheeks.“Actually, the best work goes unnoticed,” says Dr Esho, who practices at The Nova Clinic when in Dubai and is as renowned for his warm, mega-watt smile as he is for his precision and attention to detail.Growing up, Dr Esho had set his sights on becoming a graphic designer. “My dad had other ideas and gave me five options: be a doctor, dentist, lawyer, engineer or accountant,” he says. “That may sound mean, but I realised later in life that my Nigerian parents were preparing me for the harsh realities of being a black man in the UK; they wanted to give me the best chance possible.”Having graduated in 2005 from Leicester Medical School, the reluctant medical student was on his way to becoming a surgeon when his boss introduced him
