Cameron James Hewens, 22, pleaded guilty on Monday morning in Huron County 52nd Circuit Court to a felony charge of unlawful posting of a message and a misdemeanor count of malicious use of a telecommunications device. Article continues below this ad According to prosecutors, Hewens made several posts on Facebook earlier this year containing threatening and harassing comments directed at his girlfriend’s parents. Unlawful posting of a message, also known as cyberbullying, is punishable by up to two years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Malicious use of a telecommunications device carries a penalty of up to six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. Judge Gerald M. Prill scheduled sentencing for Monday, June 1, at 9 a.m. Hewens remains free on a $3,500/personal recognizance bond. Article continues below this ad
