CROWN POINT — A jury convicted a Park Forest man Wednesday of the 2021 rape of a woman in Munster. Corrie Westbrook, 31, assaulted the woman on her couch on during the night between April 17 and 18, 2021. The state built its case on testimony from the woman and a Snapchat video which showed Westbrook assaulting her by performing oral sex on her, according to court records. The trial began Monday and concluded Wednesday in Lake County Judge Salvador Vasquez’s courtroom. The jury reached a verdict in approximately 25 minutes, according to a spokeswoman from the Lake County prosecutor’s office. The victim told police she went to get dinner and drinks with Westbrook in Munster, according to court documents. While at Mark O’s Bar and Grill in Munster, she said she ordered a vodka with cranberry juice and said her memory soon started to “go in and out” and she was not able to remember parts of the night.
