QUEENSTOWN, Md. — For the second straight day, weather played a role in the $65,000 Hunters Oak Futures Golf Classic. Sixty-three players who were unable to complete their first round before Fridays weather suspensions returned to Hunters Oak Golf Club to finish at 7 AM. By 6:38 PM today, with thunder threatening by late afternoon, play was once again suspended. Second-round play resumed at 7:36 PM, but was again suspended for darkness at 8:15 PM with six players on the course and one hole to play. Those players will return at 7:30 AM, Sunday to complete the round. The 36-hole cut will be determined immediately following completion of the second round, with the final round beginning at approximately 8:30 AM. A decision for a split-tee start or a one-tee start will be made following the tournament cut. While weather conditions waffled and kept players guessing when the next suspension would come, Candy Hannemann went to work. The native of Rio de Janiero, Brazil fired a 7-under-par 65 this morning, completing three and half holes in her first round that included nine birdies, two bogeys and 26 putts.
