Mayor Mary Parham Copelan says she wanted to ‘foster unity,’ but her challenger said her comments ‘drive us further apart’ MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Milledgeville’s mayor this week posted a Facebook video discussing race and politics in the city, then deleted it, then released a statement defending it. The video shows Mayor Mary Parham Copelan driving in her car discussing the mayor’s race and criticized residents that “look like us” who are not supporting her. “There are many that look like us [who] have already sold out.
