SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior captain Stephanie Bourque became the all-time points and assists leader among defensemen, assisting on sophomore Klara Kenttälä’s power-play goal in the Union College women’s hockey team’s 5-2 loss to #10 Clarkson University on Friday evening at M&T Bank Center. Junior Mikayla Blomquist opened the scoring for the Garnet Chargers, with assists from senior Greta Kropp and junior Quinn Dunkle . Kenttälä netted her first goal of the season on the power play, with Bourque and junior Maddie Leaney earning assists. Union earned an early power play 2:41 into the opening frame but could not convert. Clarkson struck first at 5:25 on a three-on-two rush, as Lara Beecher fed Sara Manness, who found Sena Catterall for the finish. Seven minutes later, Union evened the score when Dunkle moved the puck up to Kropp, who connected with Blomquist. Blomquist carried the puck up the left side on a two-on-one rush with senior Amanda Quan and buried her shot to make it 1-1.
