That’s according to an internal memo from Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, reported by CNBC. The company says the move is meant to spur innovation and strengthen internal collaboration. In addition to mandatory office hours, Mosseri wants to reduce the number of internal meetings. Employees are being encouraged to focus on building product prototypes and demoing them directly, rather than giving lengthy presentations. According to Mosseri, that should boost creativity and speed up product development. The policy applies only to Instagram. Within parent company Meta, the broader return-to-desk mandate introduced in September 2023 remains in place, requiring employees at Facebook, WhatsApp, and other units to be in the office at least three days a week. advertisement Instagram is far from alone in pushing for more in-person work.
