News Local News Perthshire The aim is for the clubhouse to be an asset for the Highland Perthshire town used by various sports clubs and members of the whole community There was reason for festive cheer in Highland Perthshire after councillors unanimously granted a licence for The Aberfeldy Sports Club. A brand new clubhouse has been built in Aberfeldy using around £1 million of funding from various organisations. The Aberfeldy Sports Club’s aim is to “provide an asset to Aberfeldy that will welcome the whole community”. With golf club membership declining from over 500 in the 1970s to less than 100 today, members embraced a new multi-activity approach to ensure sustainability. Both Aberfeldy Golf Club (AGC) and Aberfeldy Rugby Football Club (ARFC) needed modern clubhouse facilities and so the idea of The Aberfeldy Sports Club was born. The brand new clubhouse has been built on the site of the old golf clubhouse, which was demolished at the start of last summer. It has segregated men’s and women’s changing rooms, showers, toilets, meeting rooms and a bar/restaurant.
