June 1, 2026 – 09:19 PM Arni Sveinsson finishes play with a 4-under par 68 by Kent Lowe CARLSBAD, California – Sophomore Arni Sveinsson of LSU posted a 4-under 68 to lead the Tigers in the final round here Monday in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship at the OMNI La Costa Resort and Spa North Course. The Tigers, who advanced to this final round on the basis of a historic team round of 18-under par on Sunday, finished where they started in 12th place at 3-over par 1,155 after a final round on Monday of 1-over par 289. It would take under par to make the final eight teams for match play and that number was 2-under par 1,150 which four teams tied at that score (UCLA, Tennessee, North Carolina and Stanford). There would be a playoff later Monday night to decide the final two teams that would advance to the quarterfinal round of play. Sveinsson, who has battled through injury all spring, opened with birdies on the par 5 10th and par 4 11th hole before posting 12 consecutive pars. He then birdied the par 5 sixth, bogeyed the par 4 seventh and finished with back-to-back birdies
