A video of the chaos erupting outside the school grounds has gone viral on social media. In the video, a parent can be seen trying to protect her child from the mob. People are warned that the sharing of a video involving minors in any capacity, without the consent of their legal guardians, could constitute a criminal offence. WhatsApp channels the cause of the violence? According to information received by the Ladysmith Gazette, the incident is believed to be linked to WhatsApp channels involving different high schools in Ladysmith, where learners are allegedly insulted and subjected to offensive comments. Accused learner attacked A pupil, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, told the Ladysmith Gazette that the child who was attacked had been accused by others of creating the controversial WhatsApp channel at Windsor Secondary School. “Learners are now being accused of starting these channels, including those at other schools. These channels are used to insult and humiliate learners at different high schools. One of the accused was attacked outside (Windsor) school,”
