A WhatsApp message arrives, but its icon never appears at the top of your phone. The fix depends on whether Android is hiding the icon or the notification itself never arrives. Start with the display and permission settings, then check background restrictions if messages arrive only after you open WhatsApp. Start with the missing icon Swipe down from the top of the screen to look for a WhatsApp notification. If it appears in the notification shade but has no status-bar icon, start with the display controls. Missing banners and missing sounds are separate symptoms. Open Settings > Notifications. Under General, turn off Hide silent notifications in status bar if your phone includes this switch. Test with a new incoming message after each change. If the switch is absent, the icon is still missing, or no notification appeared in the shade, check WhatsApp’s system notification permission next.
