VALLEY CITY, N.D. — Former Valley City High School football coach Chad Smith was terminated over “sexually explicit Snapchat photos” sent to the parent of a player, The Forum has learned through an open records request submitted to the Valley City Public School District. Documents obtained through the open records request state that Smith allegedly sent “unwanted and nonconsensual” photos to a female parent of a player within the football program. Smith was in his second season as the Hi-Liners’ football coach. He was placed on administrative leave prior to Valley City’s home game against Lisbon on Sept. 11 and officially terminated three days later on Sept. 14. In Smith’s termination letter, issued by Valley City Public School District Superintendent Josh Johnson, it was stated that the school district found Smith in violation of its staff code of conduct policy. “As a coach and employee of Valley City Public Schools, you are expected to exercise appropriate judgment, maintain professional boundaries, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the responsibilities of working with students and families and representing the District,” the letter read. “The District has determined that this conduct is inconsistent with these expectations and with the Valley City
