(KATU) — A Portland man will spend more than three decades in prison after being convicted and sentenced for multiple crimes, including first-degree rape, first-degree sex abuse and using a child in sexually explicit conduct. Nicolas Matthew Hall Tull, 24, was sentenced to 32 years in prison on Monday, Nov. 2. The convictions stem from five cases involving sexual crimes against teen girls, child sexual abuse material, drunk driving and an assault in jail. In one case, prosecutors said Tull met a 14-year-old girl on Snapchat and later raped and sexually abused her. He also pressured her to perform sexual acts on video calls, threatening to kill himself if she refused. Investigators found recordings on his phone. In another case, prosecutors said Tull met a 15-year-old girl who had run away from home near Portland’s Central Library. She told investigators he offered her a place to sleep in exchange for sex and threatened to kill her if she did not comply. She was able to flee after three days.
