Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has officially joined TikTok, according to a report carried on WAM. The Dubai leader will share short clips of his 50-year journey in public service, providing insights in leadership and management to inspire youth to create positive change in their societies, WAM added. TikTok provides Sheikh Mohammed with a new platform to connect with the youth, who make up the majority of the short-form mobile video platform’s audience. Young people are at the centre of several humanitarian and social initiatives that Sheikh Mohammed has launched and oversees, including the Arab Reading Challenge, Arab Hopemakers, One Million Arab Coders, Madrasa among others. Sheikh Mohammed actively uses social media to directly connect with audiences and world leaders. Posting in several languages besides his native Arabic, Sheikh Mohammed utilises the universality of the digital sphere in proposing ideas, inviting online users to be part of the UAE’s story by sharing ideas, opinions and votes on certain subjects, besides announcing the UAE’s latest development initiatives, humanitarian projects and plans.
