Akash Sondhi, 27, targeted 573 users – including four from Nottinghamshire – aged between 16 and 25 between 2015 and 2020. While some of his victims are yet to be traced, police officers discovered they were located all across the world – including the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Romania and beyond. Police said Sondhi hacked the accounts to gain access to intimate images. He would then threaten to expose the pictures to friends and family members in their phone contacts if they did not send him more images and videos. His home was raided by officers in March 2020 when several victims made reports to the police.
