Tiger Woods is awake, responsive and recovering in a Los Angeles-area hospital after the golf legend was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday morning, according to a statement posted to his official Twitter account early Wednesday. The post includes a quote by Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer and interim CEO of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, saying Woods is recovering from a long surgical procedure to repair “significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity.””Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia,” said Mahajan. “Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins.”WILL BODY CAM FOOTAGE OF TIGER WOODS’ HARROWING RESCUE BE RELEASED?”Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling,” he continued. The statement also expressed appreciation for the doctors and hospital staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Fire Department.”There are no further updates at this time and we continue to thank you for your well-wishes and privacy for him and his family,” the statement added.Los Angeles County…
