The Department of Parks and Recreation has extended the bid deadline for the lease to operate a restaurant concession at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course (“Hilo Muni”) to Sept. 14, 2021. The corresponding Intent to Bid document, required of all entities wishing to bid on the lease, is now due Sept. 9, 2021. The lease is for an initial period of six years, beginning Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2027, with future options for two additional two-year extensions. In addition, the lease affords the winning bidder the exclusive right to provide food and beverage services at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. “We encourage all interested parties to visit the Hilo Muni’s clubhouse and get a feel for themselves of the great potential this business opportunity has for the right restaurant operation to thrive in Hilo,” said Maurice Messina, the Director of Parks and Recreation. “We cannot stress enough how critical it is that interested bidders go online to view and download the bid documents and then submit their intent to bid far in advance of the September 9 deadline.
