PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Newly-released court documents say a young man accused in the Phoenix shooting death of a teenager last month has admitted to the crime. He also reveals why he allegedly pulled the trigger.Dupree Rollins, 18, was arrested in the death of 16-year-old Romeo Perkins. Romeo was shot at around 4 a.m. on July 20 inside an apartment near 25th and Glenrosa avenues. Detectives say that after the shooting, Rollins took off.When Phoenix officers arrived at the apartment, they found Romeo suffering from several gunshot wounds. Ten bullet casings were also found on the floor near the teen. Romeo was pronounced dead at the scene.A witness who had been at the apartment says Rollins admitted killing Romeo because he was afraid that the teen and his girlfriend were planning to kill him, so “he killed the victim first,” according to the police report.Witnesses also told police that Rollins had sent messages on Snapchat about the crime. Police say one message said: “Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom 10x,” which collaborated with the number of casings found at the scene.
