Manalapan NJ: Apartment complex off Franklin Lane, Route 9 – Asbury Park Press

MANALAPAN – Franklin Lane Apartments, a 168-unit development spread over five buildings and including 51 affordable units, has won the unanimous backing of the Planning Board. The complex, consisting of five three-story apartment buildings, is eyed for land east of Franklin Lane and north of Milford Brook. The apartment buildings will consist of 51 affordable and 117 market-rate apartments. Of those, 75 will be one-bedroom units, 83 two-bedroom units and 10 three-bedroom units. The developer, JG2 Manalapan Residential Development LLC, also will include a clubhouse with a pool, sidewalks and 342 parking spaces. Information about the proposed market-rate and affordable rents for the units was not immediately available.The Planning board, which met Thursday, approved the development in an 8-0 vote.Affordable Housing: Manalapan affordable apartments on Route 33 get preliminary OKMichael D’Agostino, a resident of Manalapan and relative of the board’s secretary, Daria D’Agostino, questioned the three-story height of the project during public comments. John Giunco, the lawyer representing the developers, explained that the height and density were necessary to help accommodate the project’s 51 affordable units.Several people raised concerns about the safety of jaywalkers crossing Franklin Lane to the strip mall along Route 9. Board member Barry Fisher, owner of Ace Home Improvements, across from the proposed site, recused himself from the…
