September 22, 2021 11:23 PM Posted: September 22, 2021 11:23 PM SARCOXIE, Mo. – The City of Sarcoxie announces today that it is shutting down public comments on all its Facebook pages. Mayor Don Triplett made the announcement on social media on behalf of the Board of Alderman. The Board approved the decision at its September 7th meeting. The post states the decision was made in part because social media trolls “spew hate, attack our citizens or vilify the City most of us are proud to call our hometown.” The statement continues and discusses how the City’s residents deserve better. “At its worst, we have seen innocent citizens brutalized by these keyboard warriors on our sites. These folks can do that on their own social media with their like-minded followers. Our citizens deserve better,” the post states. Mayor Triplett spoke to KOAM today. He says, “Sometimes these attacks are personal and you can’t count on a content editor to always do it the right way.
