Jay Slade, 36, of no fixed address, made a brief appearance at a virtual bail court hearing Monday morning, from the Central East Correctional Centre in Kawartha Lakes. Slade is charged with first-degree murder, indignity to a dead body and two counts of assault causing bodily harm in connection with the death of Colin Gill. Police were called to 120 Hwy. 15 at about 4:30 a.m. on June 1. When officers arrived, they found Gill, 44, dead and two other people with serious injuries. The others were taken to hospital, while Slade was arrested. Crown Attorney Alan Findlay on Monday told Justice of the Peace John Doran that the matter was ready for the pre-trial stage.
