'Absolutely devastated' – Alnwick Town AFC's facilities damaged by Storm Arwen – Chronicle Live

The chairman of a historic Northumberland football club says it has been dealt a ‘massive blow’ after its training facilities and stadium were damaged by Storm Arwen. Alnwick Town AFC, which was founded in 1879, saw the bottom stand of St. James’ Park completely destroyed while the stadium’s top fence collapsed. The roof also blew off the recently-opened junior clubhouse at Greensfield, landing on the 3G pitch, which the club expects will be out of use for the foreseeable future. Particularly for the junior set up because they have worked really hard over the last three years. We all have over the last 30 – 40 years to get the club where it’s at, (the new facilities) only opened last year.” (Image: John V.
