Here’s how things are going to change Video-sharing network Vimeo has announced a substantial overhaul of its bandwidth policy, after complaints from various content producers over the company’s demand for hefty fees in order to keep their movies hosted on the service. The new regulations replace ambiguous terminology with clear ones and assure that authors will have sufficient time to prepare for any future adjustments. ‘ Vimeo has announced a new monthly bandwidth restriction of 2 terabytes in a blog post describing the changes. Previously, customers who were consistently “in the top 1 percent of bandwidth consumption” were subject to the restriction, which Vimeo concedes may have been more open about its application. In addition, the business claims that it would notify consumers when they exceed the 2TB limit, allowing them to either reduce their data use or brace for an increase in their monthly fee.
