FLINT, MI — The artform of being a neighbor and understanding what that entails can be witnessed firsthand in the Mott Park residents who have transformed their neighborhood clubhouse and park.The historic Mott Park golf course closed down in 2009 and the future of the 70-acre park left neighbors whose homes surrounded the park worried about the neighborhood’s seemingly bleak and possibly blight-filled future.However, in March 2022 the trajectory of Mott Park changed dramatically.After years of dedicated volunteer work, grants, donations and a rooted vision, the Mott Park Clubhouse reopened.“In 2009, Flint was in bad shape financially. We were under emergency management and they were just cutting everything, locking stuff up and walking away.
