38Mott Fest & Clubhouse Grand Re-OpeningFLINT, MI — Mott Park’s clubhouse and 70-acre park closed down in 2009 leaving the surrounding neighborhood worried about their future as a community.On Saturday, June 25, the Mott Park neighborhood was able to celebrate a bright future during the first-ever Mott Fest and the grand re-opening of the clubhouse that drew a crowd of hundreds.Mott Fest celebrations started at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. Saturday at the clubhouse, located at 2701 Nolen Drive, with food trucks, a beer tent, games, vendors and more.Janie Beauthin, owner of Twig End Farm and a Mott Park resident for ten years, had a vendor booth selling her beautiful urban grown flower arrangements at the festival organizers hope to make into an annual event.“I am so excited and I am mostly excited for the kids,” said Beauthin. “The kids in the neighborhood now have a place when it’s cold to play!
