Whatsapp, a popular global instant messaging service owned by Meta, released its monthly report for June 2022 on Tuesday. Between June 1 and June 30, 2022, the company reportedly banned 22,10,000 bad accounts. In compliance with Rule 4(1)(d) of the Indian Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, WhatsApp releases the monthly report. Reportedly, the steps taken by WhatsApp in response to complaints received from users in India via WhatsApp’s complaint channels and accounts taken down for breaking Indian law or WhatsApp’s terms of service using our prevention and detection procedures. In June, WhatsApp received 632 grievance complaints from India; 64 of those issues were addressed by the platform. 426 of the 632 grievance complaints were to appeals of bans, with the other reports falling under other categories including assistance and safety.
