 An award-winning equine feature film is being re-released on three worldwide streaming platforms to highlight the worsening plight of horses in the United States. Saving America’s Horses: A Nation Betrayed is being shown on demand on Ecoflix, Vimeo and UnchainedTV, a global, free, streaming TV network for animal lovers. UnchainedTV is also showing a 10-minute featurette from Saving America’s Horses, which will be available from 6.30pm PST on December 16. The documentary, written, produced and directed by filmmaker Katia Louise, looks at the war being waged on the country’s wild mustangs, in favor of public land for livestock grazing and mining interests. Tens of thousands of horses languish in government holding pens across the country. The film also exposes the sordid industry that sends horses on long and cruel trips across federal borders to foreign slaughterhouses where they die horrific deaths. “The really shocking fact is … the problem has only gotten worse over the past decade,” says UnchainedTV founder Jane Velez-Mitchell.
