WHATSAPP is on the brink of bringing in a new feature which can be used to keep messages saved forever. It is the remedy for the Meta-owned messaging apps’ ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature, which it introduced in 2020. 1The ‘Kept’ feature been under development for a long time, but is currently only available for a select few of beta testers The sparkly new ‘Kept Messages’ feature is set to keep texts in a separate section behind the chats’ info button. But it is only helpful if you’ve turned on disappearing messages, which means any message sent vanishes or auto-deletes after seven days. The disappearing messages feature was designed to make texting more like a real life conversation. But WhatsApp is now making sure people can keep receipts of chats if they want to. In this ‘Kept Messages’ section, all saved messages will be listed. This means everyone in the conversation can find them in the future. When a user keeps a disappearing message, it will no longer disappear from the chat after its expiration. It is so similar to the starred feature, that it may eventually replace it.
