EAU CLAIRE COUNTY (WQOW) – An Arcadia man faces 14 criminal charges, including multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography, after investigators say he distributed and accessed child sexual abuse material through Snapchat. Simon Rose, 30, was charged in Eau Claire County Circuit Court Thursday. According to the criminal complaint: The charges stem from an investigation that began in March after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported a cybertip to the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Rose’s Snapchat account. In total, investigators found 13 videos and one image of child sexual abuse material within his Snapchat account. Rose was already out on bond from a 2021 case in which he was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. His bond conditions prohibited him from accessing the internet except for work, school or criminal defense purposes. If convicted on all counts, Rose faces decades in prison and fines totaling more than $1 million.
