Photo by Courtesy DIALOG It was a most unwelcome pre-Christmas gift, for not just proponents of the new event centre, but for everyone who hoped and believed that we’d finally put all the drama of the last several years behind us. Yet here we are once again with city hall and the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corp. at odds and with no clear idea as to how far apart the two sides are and whether a new arena will ever get built. Regardless of how one felt about the original deal — or the very idea of a municipal government helping to build a facility for a professional sports team — this setback is quite unfortunate.
